Christmas Card Memory Book 2012

This mini I created is the first of a trend I KNOW I'll be continuing for years to come.

I have seen many versions of this on Pinterest for this creative way of keeping cards together from a special occasion or holiday as a keepsake.

I used my Bind-it-All to make a bound book of all my christmas cards this year.

I punched all my envelopes ONLY. I chose this technique so that I did not ruin my cards, as well as to protect some the the beautiful handmade cards I also received this year.

You can see here how you can still pull out the cards and use the envelopes as pockets.**

**I ALWAYS use a letter opener to open all my cards or mail I will save so that it's nice and clean, and I can use them for projects like this. I love having both the card AND envelope.

For the envelopes that were very thin, or had tears, I just used coordinating
washi tape to strengthen where I was going to be punching.

I used scraps of cardstock to stamp some of my favorite Christmas images to add a little more interest to the album.

For my covers I used 2 pieces of Kraft cardstock glued together to add sturdiness.

(cover is unfinished)

I used Prima Chalk Ink in White to stamp on my cover. Added some washi tape and sealed with Claudine Helmuth's Matte Mutli Medium

I made this cute tag using this adorable vintage reindeer stamp from Michael's, that I got on clearance after Christmas!!! I just added some hints of color to the wreath, berries and the white if this fur using colored pencil.

I used washi on the spine of my covers where I punched to re enforce where I punch.

I plan on making another book of all my wedding cards,  and in the future I will do this for my baby shower cards, my future Mother's Day cards, etc!!

How do YOU save your cherished greeting cards from loved ones over the years?

Remember 12/12/12

So I was excited to find a special way to document 12/12/12 (last year, lol). I am lucky enough to work with my hubby so I asked him to meet in his car at lunch to take a picture together. I couldn't think of how to show the time and date on my camera, so I held up my iPod touch, hoping it would show up. It kinda did, but I still know it was exactly 12:12pm on December 12th 2012.

 12:12pm 12/12/12.
 Pretty awesome.

(my hubby thought we should make a 12 with our fingers. lol)

I used the pics I took and combined it in a collage with an Image from Instagram to make this cool picture.

How did you document or record that moment in time?

31 Day Challenge Post #4

Most weeks are pretty dull for me. I go to work, come home, take a scalding shower, and either spend the night on the couch with my hubby, or go into my craftspace and find inspiration online or create until I'm forced to go to bed. With it being winter and not having much daylight after I get home, I really just look forward to the weekends so I can see that beautiful daylight fill my home, and spend some quiet mornings in my craft space!

Anyway...

Although my weekdays are pretty boring, Somewhere in between the drive to work, grocery store, run to the craft store, or back home, I find something beautiful I want to remember. Here are a few things I saw this week that caught my eye this week.

This sunrise on my way to work one morning shows a BEAM of light shooting from the horizon. I mean... just stunning!

And the sunset on the way home...

(I pull over for a moment anytime it's this good!)

This was a cool icicle coming of my roof. Pretty Cool!

Have a great week everyone, make sure to find something beautiful to remember each day :)

31 Day Challenge Blog Post #3
Marion Smith 12 Days of Christmas Mini Album

So I know Christmas has already past, but I still want to share with you all a few projects from this holiday season. I had a lot of fun this year, experimenting with my Bind-it-All, learning new ways to make books, mini's journals, etc. I learned stitching books, and hinge techniques and I made 4 December/Christmas books shown here (unfinished):

I plan on dividing them into 4 posts. Starting today with a cute little 12 Days of Christmas Mini Digital Printable design by Marion Smith. (She designed the Primrose Book in my previous post.)

It's so cute and full of Envelopes and pockets and vintage ephemera. So easy to assemble and looks like a hand sewn book!

I did not use it this year, but instead just wanted to try something new, and needed something to get me in the Holiday spirit. I had some bumps along the way, and plan to make one more before next Christmas, fixing my mistakes. (being that I can't quite open it all the way.)
Here's a quick look inside:

December Daily/Junk Journal 2012

So there was a lot of excitement this year on the Daybook Delights FB group to start a December Daily  or DD. I was eager to jump on the bandwagon, but didn't know what sort of book would suite me. A Smash*book? a Daybook? I ended up just gathering items from my craft stash

and realized I could actually just throw together a junk journal type smashbook using my Bind-it-All, and here's what I came up with:

Haven't commited on the cover yet.

Here's a video where I talk about it more.

I was so excited to fill this thing with photos and document all the things I will bake, and decorate , and ALL the things I would do this Christmas.

Only, I didn't do ANY of it, LOL. So this little thing never got filled :(
I still love it, and maybe I will finish it anyway. I DID still save all my bits for the month, just not really Christmas related. I'll try to get the courage to post a video of the 1/2 filled album later this month.

Hello 2013!!!!

Marion Smith's 31 Day Challenge Blog Post #1

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I am really looking forward to 2013!!!  I've learned so many new techniques and fun ideas in 2012 and I can't wait for them to grow in 2013.

I had almost forgotten about this blog I started last year. It's been so long since I posted I even had to hunt for the login and password, lol! I used to think I should only post about Craft stuff, but after finding so many great bloggers this past year that I LOVE... I realized I can make this Blog about ALL parts of ME! Which means, you'll hear about foods I make, see pics of my adorable cats, skies i think are stunning, (seen below) and who knows what else! But I hope you'll stop by from time to time and check out what I have going on :)

I am taking Marion Smiths 31 Day Challenge for 2013. 31 Days, 31 journal pages or blog posts. (I'm gonna tackle the 31 Blog Posts) Marion has been a huge part of my creative jouney this past year, and I recently had the pleasure of taking a workshop with her in Texas, and it was one of the BEST weekends I have had, ever!!! (I can't WAIT for that blog post!)

I am really excited to take part in this challenge because I think it will help me stay focused and on track of the projects I want to complete. I hope to stay on track, but even if I don't, I'd like to at least keep up with this blog this year and share a little more about me, and my life, and what goes on in my crafty space! I have gotten to know so many great people on many FB group communities and I hope this allows them to get to know me a little more :)

 See you soon!
